When the heather is in bloom, the Peak District can become a riot of colourful landscapes, so we took a trip oop north (well, it is for us) and had a wander around some of the ‘Edges’ to take a look at some of the best views on offer

We revisited some of our favourite spots such as the Wheel Stones and the Salt Cellar, up on Derwent Edge where the was a little colour, but it did look like we had missed the best.

Ladybower Reservoir and Bamford Edge also offered up some spectacular vistas and it is always so nice just to be able to walk for hours in such a beautiful spot – it’s no surprise that there can be lots of other people on the trails but on this trip, the paths seemed pretty quiet.

Peter’s Stone is an odd looking outcrop but we had some spectacular light on the day that we visited.

We also enjoyed a super windy stroll from the Upper Derwent Reservoir to see The Alport Castles where we once again had some great light, although it was somewhat sketchy getting near the edge as the wind was so strong.
