puffins on Flamborough Head

The weather forecast was not too promising but we set off for Flamborough Head. When we arrived, the sky was just a sheet of featureless grey and the app on the phone promised rain!

Things started well, I asked a local chap where the best place to find puffins was and he assured me it was off to the South but that there was nothing around at this time of year, so whilst waiting for the girls, I ambled over to the cliff edge to watch the waves, only to find, just below me was a small gang of puffins. Thanks, Mr local!

After taking some shots of the puffins we headed north along the clifftops as the gannets flew past, seemingly at arm’s length and then, after a few minutes, the weather app’s predictions came true and the heavens opened.

We made our way to the arches and I made a coupleĀ of shots but the rain and lack of any sky hampered any chances of ‘epic’ so, very wet, we headed back to the car and home. Maybe next time Flamborough!
