From 24 – 26 June 2022, The skies above Headcorn Aerodrome were filled with the roar of classic World War II aircraft soaring overhead. Much to the delight of the crowds below. I was lucky enough to attend on a pleasant summer’s afternoon with my 600mm lens., giving me great views of the craft both on the ground and in the skies above.

One of the great things about this airshow, from a photographic perspective, is the speed that the aircraft travel at. There are no jets screaming across the skies (other than the red arrows of course) so you get a little more time to compose shots as the aircraft pass in front of your lens.

When it first opened during the Second World War, RAF Lashenden as it was then known, housed many aircraft Squadrons from the Royal Canadian Airforce, the USAAF and of course, fighter wings from the RAF – and many of these were represented by lovingly restored aircraft over the weekend
