Richmond Park Deer

The alarm went off at stupid o’clock and we got up and got out of the house by 5:30 so that we could get to Richmond Park before dawn. Unfortunately the beautiful sunrise that I was hoping for was hidden behind a solid grey blanket of cloud but hey, I was there and so were the deer, we set off into the wet undergrowth…

We were a bit early for the rut but a few of the young males were trying out their horns and the larger males were certainly being vocal and seeing off plenty of the competition.

The sun decided to show its face around mid morning, which was relief so walked around the park (it felt like ten times) and got back to the car exhausted, stinking of deer and with a memory card full of shots.
