We spent a week at Long Rock near Marazion in a lovely house overlooking St Michaels Mount and Mounts Bay. Although the weather was not perfect, we still had plenty of beautiful moments to admire and the rain held off. St Michaels Mount seems to be one of those places that is great to look at in any condition and time of day – even at night lit, only by the moon, it strikes an iconic silhouette.

Every morning, the first train of the day would speed past our bedroom window telling me to open my eyes and take a quick peak outside, and every day it was gloomy with no chance of a spectacular sunrise. Until, that is, the last day of our stay. I looked through the window and saw that the sun was just starting to appear and it was going to be glorious. No time to dress properly, I grabbed my coat, shoes and camera and was on the beach about five minutes after waking up – a lovely start to the day even if I wasn’t wearing socks or a shirt!
