whitstable harbour

I’ve never, to the best of my knowledge, visited the beaches of north Kent. After a week of too much work on the allotment and plenty of desk action too, I desperately needed to get outside, so when the sun started to shine on Sunday, it was a bit of a no-brainer to jump in the car and head to the coast. This time we went north!

Parking was a nightmare, but eventually we found a spot and headed to the harbour where everybody seemed intent on getting as many oysters consumed as possible. There was a good amount of seafood on offer and plentiful custom for all the pubs and bars. Whitstable it would seem, is quite the place to visit on a sunny day.

Whitstable is one of the few west facing beaches in this neck of the woods so I will definitely try and get back up there for a spot of sunset photography and hope to see some of the beaches a little more exposed – as this weekend we only got to sample high tide before heading back off homewards.

Whitstable has some interesting beaches with plenty of groins, beach huts and odd little pier things on offer with views out across the mouth of The Swale towards Sheppey and onwards to Southend and Clacton-on-Sea. Lots to keep the needy photographer interested – I’ll be back!
